Powerscourt Wedding photography of Laura and Neal’s Wedding Day
When we first met Laura and Neal we knew we just had to shoot their wedding. They had so much love for each other and where so chilled I knew it was going to be a great wedding. We know Powerscourt Hotel very well and have a huge archive of Powerscourt Wedding Photography from over the recent years. With the Sugar loaf as the backdrop and the sun shining, the day was just perfect. I will let the bride Laura give you the full story right from the start…
How did you meet…
Originally in first class. Years went by where we didn’t know each other anymore but then we came back together as childhood sweethearts at 16 years. We spent the following years together and apart as we both grew up as our own people but ended up deciding this was it as we knew we were meant for each other.
The proposal…
Neal took me to New York to the middle of central park and got down on one knee. He proposed using a haribo jelly ring I had stuck in a card for him years before for his birthday. He had always promised me a Tiffany and Co. engagement ring so he kept true to his word and immediately after I said yes, straight to Tiffanys on Fifth Avenue we headed!
My hair and make up…
Hair was Zero One Salon in Greystones by the amazing Zoe. Make up was by Debbie Leonard.
The Engagement…
We said three-four years, a long engagement so we kept fairly well to it!
My dress…
The first one I tried on! Maggie Soltero. It was a fitted lace dress and fit like a dream. It was very comfortable to wear so I could dance the night away happily.
The Planning…
My husband is bridzilla, so I was very relaxed in all the planning. I spread it out over the two and a half years. In the first year we booked the venue, band and photographer. In the year of the wedding all the rest was booked and planned. I was very relaxed about all the planning as I didn’t want to stress about any of it.
His suit…
Navy suits and brown shoes from Frewen and Aylward in Dun Laoghaire.
Our ceremony…
Queen of Peace Church Bray, and my Uncle said the Ceremony.
We chose our photographer because…
The minute I met with Mark I adored his enthusiastic personality and immediately knew we would all relax and have fun with himself and his wife Fiona for the day. Their photos spoke for themselves, amazingly talented!
The Venue and how was it decorated…
Neal and I live in Bray and both grew up here and we wanted a venue close by. We chose Powerscourt as it was near by and we both knew it well and loved it. We kept a shabby chic theme with a little bit of personality thrown in through Disney and homemade Tiffany’s wedding favors, and of course customized pink and white M&Ms.
Our wedding theme/colours…
Light pink and white colours. The theme kept with shabby chic and New York inspiration through out.
Our honeymoon…
Mexico in the Secrets Dream Capri Resort. It was heaven and just what we needed.
My favourite part of the wedding day…
I can’t choose. I was in a bubble of happiness throughout the day and I wouldn’t have changed a single thing.
My piece of advice for other brides…
Don’t stress or over think anything. Enjoy yourself and the day because it goes so fast and just be in the moment.
